GLASTONBURY‘s giant menorah Unites Community!
Senator Cassano, Representatives Srinivasan and Rojas Join Chabad for Chanukah at Center Green

Nearly fifty town residents came together for a joyous celebration on the second evening of Chanukah.  The ceremony, held on Wednesday, December 21, took place at the Center Green at the corner of Hebron Avenue and Main Street.  The evening was sponsored by the Benet Rothstein Chabad Jewish Center.

Prior to the kindling of a giant 9-foot Menorah, the Chabad Hebrew School Choir entertained the crowd with festive tunes.  Both Glastonbury State Representatives and the State Senator representing the town addressed the assembled.  Representatives Rojas and Srinivasan, as well as Senator Cassano, emphasized the special ability of the Glastonbury community to come together under all circumstances.

Participants were treated to lively music, chocolate “gelt,” warm potato “latkes,” and hot cider.  In addition, a grand raffle was drawn at the conclusion of the program.

The Menorah and her candles have always been a symbol of tolerance and unity,” said Rabbi Yosef Wolvovsky, Executive Director of the Center.  “It is highly appropriate that this event unifies peoples of different persuasions.
